1. You’ve mentioned in the past that you went two years without candy but failed due to someone offering you candy. I too find it most difficult when offered candy.

WHAT WORKS FOR ME IS TO SAY NO ALL THE TIME. SOME PEOPLE CAN BE MODERATE AND JUST HAVE CANDY ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK.  I WISH I COULD BE LIKE THAT BUT I’M NOT.  IF YOU’RE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT GIVING UP CANDY FOREVER – OR JUST FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, JUST THINK OF YOURSELF AS HAVING AN ALLERGY TO CANDY THAT IS BAD FOR YOU SO YOU CAN’T EAT IT.

BARS OF FRENCH CHOCOLATE ARE MOST TEMPTING, SINCE I LIVE IN FRANCE.  I AM ALSO VERY TEMPTED BY ALL HOLIDAY CANDY – ESPECIALLY HALLOWEEN AND EASTER.

8. Most addictions are 99% mental correct? Does it cross your mind that you could fail or do you find strength from overcoming your candy addiction via the blog/readership?

I DEFINITELY THINK I COULD FAIL ANY DAY BUT HAVING THE BLOG GIVES ME A LOT OF DISCIPLINE BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO FAIL PUBLICLY!  PLUS I WANT TO INSPIRE OTHER PEOPLE.

Thanks Dana for the interview! Many of my followers from the beginning know that I started by blog as well with hopes of eating candy only on Tuesday’s. Hence, the Candy Tuesday videos! It worked great but of course I have my bad days but I’ve slowed down quite a bit, also the braces help as well!! So I visited a candy shop in Barcelona that was quite cool, Happy Pills. When you enter the store you know its candy shop but it has the feel of a pharmacy! The colors are amazing and of course a large assortment of candy to choose from. However, you can’t just stuff the candy into a plastic bag like most candy stores. You have to pack it like a pill bottle. Hence, the name Happy Pills!

I didn’t buy any candy on that day because there was so many people and I probably should have pack a bottle of patience pills. I’m very impatient so I didn’t want to wait..

You can also purchase gifts and Happy Pill gift boxes as well. But of course its more fun packing the candy into a medicine like bottle and giving it as a gift as opposed to the box below. I’ll be back to give a full review when there are less people in the shop!!

Well its been pretty silent on the blog for the past two weeks. I do apologize! I’ve been to the dentist back and forth during the last two weeks. I’ve gotten my teeth cleaned and check up. I did have some problems – not do to eating candy of course!! However, I think I’m planning on getting braces after the New Year 2009! I still have my wisdom teeth and they need to be yanked (OUCHHHH)..

So that’s whats been going on. I will continue to write and post my Candy Tuesday Reviews and post what candy I’m eating now. However, I have been slowing down on eating so much candy. I am a true addict but I know its better to slow down just a tad!

MY TOOTH IS ACHING… DAMNIT

I should make “the switch”, however I’m allergic to apples because of the citric acid. Unless it is cooked with LOTS of sugar I can eat it without my tongue itching.

BUT.. I should try to calm down a little bit with the sweets. I plan on going on a little candy break. Every year I take time to get away from eating candy so that I can break down my high level of eating. Last year I went 2 months without eating candy. This Spring, I’ll just let it ride without setting a date (probably not very intelligent).

My first experiment in making rock candy went ok as a kid. However, it wasn’t so rock hard I admit and very chewy. As a kid anything sweet is great so I ate it without problems. The key to rock candy recipes is food coloring, lots of sugar, good oven that doesn’t overheat, good mixing bowls, timer and lots of patience (which I lack)

Here are the basic ingredients that you’ll need.

INGREDIENTS:

• granulated sugar
• flavoring extract or oil
• food coloring
• glass jar
• skewer

If you don’t feel like sweating in the kitchen making rock candy I suggest you buy it! While they aren’t so easy to buy in bulk you can find the occasional small package!
