I have a freaky edition of Candy Tuesday today!! Enjoy

After the video, my family and I tried the Harry Potter Bertie Bott’s Beans by Jelly Belly and let me tell you… it was an experience!! I’ve never tasted any candy so bad and so good ever!

Here the list of flavors in the “cute” Harry Potter Bertie Bott’s Beans with my comments

• Banana – nice to wash the others down
• Black Pepper – clearly tasted like black pepper and of course as a candy GROSS
• Blueberry – nice like always
• Booger – although I’m not a Booger expert, my brother said it tasted like the real thing!! GROSS
• CandyFloss – nice flavor
• Cherry – nice like always
• Cinnamon – i don’t think my box contained cinnamon at least I didn’t taste it
• Dirt – YUCK! I spit it right out
• Earthworm – not a bad flavor
• Earwax – it was good to wash down other flavors
• Grass – wow… this tasted like the real thing
• Green Apple – refreshing to eat this after the others
• Marshmallow – not a very strong flavor
• Rotten Egg – OH MY GOD.. DON’T TRY UNLESS YOU ARE BOLD!!! I SPIT IT OUT BEFORE IT HIT MY TONGUE. SMELLS HORRIBLE
• Sausage – It tasted exactly as flavored — aiii
• Lemon – again nice flavor
• Soap – honestly it tasted like soap so after that disgusting Rotten Egg I washed my mouth right out
• Tutti-Fruitti – Very nice! one of my favorites
• Vomit – Seriously.. who even thought of this and test tasted the flavor.. I tasted verbatim exactly exactly like disgusting VOMIT.. I will never try again!!
• Watermelon – GOOOD

Those flavors are incredibly exactly like the name. That is a great Halloween gift to give the kids. They can be purchased from JellyBelly.com, Amazon, Wal-Mart and of course your local CVS or Walgreens etc.

I was sent an email of an article by the New York Time Out Magazine regarding Old-school candy. This Halloween, how about treat your Halloween guest with retro candy. Granted most of the trick o treaters won’t have an idea of the old candy that we use to eat as child but it could be fun for you give out!

Halloween Cup Cakes

Serves: 12 Cupcakes
Ease of preparation: Easy
Preparation time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

Cupcake Ingredients

• 85g Dark Chocolate for Cooking
• 85g Butter, cut into 2cm cubes
• 100g Soft Light Brown Sugar
• 1 Egg
• 1 Egg Yolk at room temperature
• ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
• 1 tbsp Soured Cream
• 75g Self-Raising Flour
• 1 tbsp Cocoa Powder
• Pinch Salt

Icing Ingredients

• 30g Confectioners Icing Sugar
• 2tbsp Organic Cocoa Powder
• 75g of Soft Unsalted Butter
• 25g of meted Dark Chocolate for cooking (optional)
• Boo Box Halloween chocolate shapes to decorate
• Pumpkin Munchkins

Equipment

Sieve
Piping bag + Nozzle
Muffin tray

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180/ Gas mark 4 and line a muffin tin with 12 paper cases.
2. Put the chocolate, butter and sugar in a heatproof bowl and place over simmering water and allow to melt, stirring continuously. Set aside to cool slightly.
3. Whisk together the eggs, vanilla and soured cream. Stir this into the cooled chocolate mixture. Sift over the flour, cocoa powder and salt and fold in. Spoon into the paper cases, filing to around 2/3 full.
4. Bake in a preheated oven for approx 20 minutes, until the muffins are risen and just firm to the touch. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
5. To make the chocolate topping melt the dark chocolate over lightly simmering water. Allow to cool.
6. Beat the butter, confectioner sugar and cocoa powder together. Add in the cooled chocolate a table spoon at a time until a thick consistency is achieved. Thick enough to pipe.
7. Place the icing into a piping bag fitted with a piping nozzle of your choice and start from the centre of the cake and pipe outwards.
8. Decorate with Boo Box! Halloween chocolate shapes and Pumpkin Munchkins.
