Candy Prices Increase

// August 19th, 2008 // No Comments » // Candy News

Have you seen the news?! Well, Hersey has announced that they will be increasing the price of candy by over 11%. That is a BIG increase and of course due to the economy they had no choice and many more will follow unfortunately. In which case, it would be almost everytime smarter to buy bulk candy of your favorite types to save a little money!

In addition to the classic Hershey’s chocolate bar, Hershey makes Kisses, Reese’s Cups, Whoppers, Mounds and Almond Joy, Rolo, York Peppermint Pattie, Mr. Goodbar, Payday, Kit Kat, Heath, 5th Avenue, and some Cadbury products.

Bazooka Bubble Juice Nuggets

// August 18th, 2008 // No Comments » // Eating Right Now, Gum

I’m a little of a bubble gum freak.. I like to chew bubble gum for a good minute and a half and then chew more until I have NO MORE. Usually, I just buy a bag of gum balls normally used for a gumball machine. But today I decided to purchase something different and I came across Bazooka Bubble Juice Nuggets gum. I use to eat a lot of Bazooka as kid but the sweet flavor didn’t last long.

This bag of Sour Green Apple Burst caught my eye because they were bit size nuggets with a little more flavor than the original Bazooka gum. So after opening the resealable pouch I was greeted by nerd like gum nuggets with lots of flavor and easy to chew!! I’m so happy that I purchased it from a new store that I visited Five Below that sells lots of hard to find candy..retro and new. The price was $1.29 per 2.0oz bag. The fruit flavor did last a while and it was sour but not as Cry Baby gum.

Bazooka Gum Nugget Flavors Include

  • Sour Green Apple Burst
  • Rockin’ Original
  • Slammin’ Blue Raspberry

The website  www.bubblejuicegum.com has the nutritional information and ingredients.

Warning: If you’re not careful and only chew a few gum nuggets at time you could possible swallow gum!!

// August 12th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Candy Video Review, chocolate candy

Welcome back again to Candy Tuesdays!! Just in case you don’t know about Candy Tuesdays, I explain. Every Tuesday I will be video blogging candy as I receive or purchase during my travels. All companies or candy manufacturers are welcome to send in candy for a review by contacting me!

Today I’m reviewing gourmet chocolate candy made by Emily’s Chocolates! I’ve actually been craving chocolates, although its not my primary favorite candy. So check out the review below!

Note: Today’s video somehow was blurry, and I’m still trying to figure out why. My apologizes.

I love the idea of chocolate fortune cookies and they tasted great! I was thinking that these fortune cookies could be fun for parties and makes a great gift for anyone. Inside the box that Emilys Chocolates sent over it included:

  • Chocolate Covered Fortune Cookies
  • Chocolate Covered Blueberries
  • Chocolate Covered Strawberries

However, the company offers many other great gourmet candy like:

  • Cashews
  • Nuts
  • Graham Crackers
  • Pecans
  • Chocolate Covered Fruit (Cranberries, Cashews, Cherries,Macadamia,Espresso Beans, Raisins)

The prices at Emilys Chocolates are very good considering the great ingredients and packaging. Plus, they do have an outlet of candies as well. One thing that I appreciate on the website is that for each product you’re able to see the nutritional information and ingredients.

If you’re considering purchasing gifts they do have combo packages that are worth looking at as well. Also, seasonal gift packs and holiday candy is available.

Emily’s Chocolate is the creator of a sinfully delicious Chocolate Covered Fortune Cookie is adding a “Holiday-themed” fortune cookie to the mix of their “love” and “friendship” themed fortunes this year.  The company is looking for chocolate lovers everywhere to submit their ideas for the fortunes. If your phrase is chosen, your fortune will be nestled in the decadent holiday chocolate covered fortune cookies. Accepted authors will receive credit on the fortune (by first name and last initial). Very Sweet Services

// August 5th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Candy Video Review, Weird Candy

Yet again, another edition of Candy Tuesdays!!! Today I have a fun review, so hopefully you’ll enjoy so sit back.

As I mentioned in the video Sweet Services and SouthWestCandy sell bulk candy and lots of hard candy. I’m not a big fan of hard candy so I gave those samples to my mom. She loved them by the way, but I guess I’m too impatient!

The sample bag contained some of the following yummy candies:

  • Sweetarts
  • Chupa Chups
  • Super Bubble
  • Laffy Taffy
  • Smarties
  • Sour Patch Kids (favorite)
  • Swedish Fish
  • Soft Mint Candy
  • Hard Candy
  • Lollipops

Sweet Services has been around since 1970 and they are a well established candy wholesale company with a lot to offer at very good bulk prices. There is a local candy factory only two minutes from my house, so I KNOW! I can also vouch for the services, candy and fast delivery if you’re curious about purchasing from them. They have a fun candy blog and also hold monthly customer contest! Check out the websites and enjoy!

Sweet Tarts Squeeze

// August 3rd, 2008 // 7 Comments » // Eating Right Now

So this weekend I tried Sweet Tarts Squeeze with the Sour Apple Flavor. I was excited to open it but to my surprise it was very strange. The sour taste was indeed sour, however the texture was gritty and slimy. Maybe I had a different idea of the taste because Sweet Tarts are great in general. It was my favorite movie box candy as a kid. I always bought Skittles or Sweet Tarts by the roll and box!

The Sweet Tart Squeeze was not my idea of candy by any standard. It wasa  tube of sugar with a sour green apple taste. I was happy for the sourness but thats all I give it credit for containing.

Sweet Tart Squeeze Flavors

  • Sour  Green Apple
  • Wild Cherry

Sweet Tarts Nutritional Value

Sugar, Sugar and more Sugar :)
